520 _aEgg masses collected from Nephila maculate Fabricius which were fixed in Carnoy?s solution and stained with giemsa dye revealed the following cellular and chromosomal features: mitioc index of 59.2%; interphase and prophase cells with round nuclei to the conventional stages that cells had undergone and the expectations to happen in each cell stage. Cell counts of mitotic cells revealed metaphase to be the most frequently occurring stage and telophase being the least. Karyogram of the chromosomes revealed monocentric chromosomes and indistinct centromeres. Chromosomes number was 2n = 24 (11 II A + X1X2). The X1X2 were not identified in the karyogram, however, it was assumed since the specimens used were female. The total average length of the chromosomes were computed to be 5.075 cm. and the mean of the average relative length was 0.08335cm under 1000X magnification with zoom less camera and picture enlarged to 5R
