TI - Characterization of Beauveria SP. associated with limacodids infesting sago (Metroxylon Sagu Rottb) PY - 2005/// KW - Undergraduate Thesis KW - BIO200, KW - BSB N1 - Thesis (BS Biology) -- University of the Philippines Mindanao, 2005 N2 - Beauveria sp. was isolated from limacodids infesting sago in Agusan del Sur. Colony growth in Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) plates was cottony or mealy, white or pale pinkish in color and plain white on the reverse side. It has thin, septated hyphae and ovoid to globose single-celled spore. Fungus colony growth was biggest and spore production highest under continuous light under alternating 12-hour light:darkness than continuous darkness. The fungus in acidic media (pH 5.66) had the widest colony growth compared to the standard (pH 6.66) and basic (pH 7.66) media. However, spore production was highest in the standard pH media. Fungus colony growth was bigger under room temperature (272oC) compared to that under air-conditioned room (252oC). However, spore production did not vary between the two temperature conditions. Colony growth was widest in PDA and Carrot Agar (CA), followed by Czapeck?s Dox Modified Agar (CMDA) and Malt Extract Agar (MEA). Spore count was highest in PDA, followed by CA and CDMA with identical counts and MEA having the least conidia ER -
