Thesis (BS Biology) -- University of the Philippines Mindanao, 2006
This study was conducted to identify the community of zooplankton in Lake Mihaba ? one of the floodplain lakes in Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary Standard towing method using plankton net with a mesh size of 63m was used throughout the 4-month study. Five groups of zooplankton were identified, namely, calanoid, cyclopoid, rotifers, ostracods and cladoceran. The copepod group ? calanoid and cyclopoid dominated during the peak of the wet season in terms of frequency (0.5 and 0.3) and density with 160,000 and 120,000 individuals per cubic meter of water filtered respectively. Calanoid and cyclopoid dominated by dry season with 0.45 (40,000 individuals per volume of water sampled) and .30 (35,000 per volume of water sampled) respectively. Correlation at r=0.756 showed an 85% relationship between depth and number of zooplankton counted. Zooplankton count of 2442 during the night sampling, using the Wilcoxon Signed Bank Test was significantly higher compared to the early morning sampling with 1,202.
