Thesis, Undergraduate (BA Communication Arts) -- U. P. in Mindanao
This production thesis aims to communicate the situation of children with cancer housed in Kythe Davao to the civil society of Davao City through posters with the hope that this will eventually move potential donors to help the children. Six (6) poster designs were made for this study. However, due to the sensitivity of the condition of the children with cancer, I used dolls as subjects for the poster designs. Dolls, just like any other toys, are often associated with children. This study will help Kythe Davao in promoting their institution and their advocacy. Most especially, this will eventually help the children with cancer in their medical, emotional, and psychological needs. Generally, image is the main element on the poster designs that I focused on. Filling the frame with just the face of the dolls heightens the emotion and appeal of the poster designs. Changing the tone of the images from colored to black and white or to sepia was done to add to the dramatic effect of the photographs. In most of the designs, I positioned my subject away from the center to establish a more dynamic use of space and a natural feeling of balance. I also made sure that each of the elements in the poster designs communicates its own meaning but, when seen together in the visual plane, will still compliment the entire visual message.
