College students who are faced with time and financial constraints consume large amounts of instant noodles. The convenience and affordability of instant noodles appeals to this demographic. Studies have shown that various health risks have been associated with increased instant noodle consumption. This study analyzed the factors that drive the demand for instant noodles among college students in Davao City using multiple linear regression by employing a Weighted Least Squares regression model. The study also analyzed college students’ purchasing patterns, knowledge, awareness, perceptions, and health safety concerns, and estimated their sodium intake. The study identified prices of instant noodle type and packaging as the significant factors driving consumer demand in Davao City. The study also found that most of the college students exceeded the recommended daily sodium intake limit, putting them at risk for various diseases. Overall, the study’s findings suggest the need for promoting healthier options, addressing sodium content, improving the formulation and amount of fortification in instant noodles, and enhancing awareness among college students to improve their dietary habits and overall health. The study recommended that further research must be made to address gaps, such as the impact of fortification, the influence of instant noodles on productivity or academic performance, and the long-term health effects of regular consumption.
